There are three schools of thought when it comes to designing an effective web page; 1st - Informative; This site is information based. All you could want to know on the site subject is there. It is not necessarily wordy, just to the point without a lot of glamour. The site is very plain, but has everything the visitor needs. The obvious downside is that the visitor may be bored and not stay long enough to get all the information. 2nd - Style; This site is design based. The web content is often overlooked by the images on the webpage. Many designers like to incorporate flash as an attention grabber. For pop bands, it is quite effective. For businesses, many visitors find it to be distracting and often hard to load. A site with pizzazz will get people returning. The hope is that they are returning to learn from content and not just to see the pretty pictures. 3rd - Overall Content; The designer that proceeds this way considers all aspects of the design. Elements of both of the first two styles are employed to achieve the optimum effectiveness. You want return traffic, you want to disseminate information, and you want ease of navigation.
